Comments (English): Casa Orioles is a small haven in the middle of a filthy and noisy neighbourhood (Boloro), but enormously characterful. The rooms are beautifully equipped and large, and the signora who owns the place is charming and helpful. We stayed four nights -- for there is so much to see in Palermo -- but you really have to have the stomach for it. The city is difficult to negotiate, there's garbage everywhere, and the traffic and pollution is horrendous. However, there is a lot of renovation going on, and I wouldn't be surprised if the area was transformed in a few years time.
